By purchasing materials from local producers and businesses, ecotourism products support the local economy. Building with local materials, buying food from local suppliers, or promoting local arts and crafts, are all ways to ensure your purchases benefit locals. By directly supporting these businesses you also create indirect benefits for the community. These indirect benefits happen when your suppliers hire people and buy ingredients to supply your business. For example, visitors should be advised of the best ways to dress in the destination and how to behave when visiting culturally significant sites.
